I know that’s a big promise to live up to. But I believe in OVER-delivering on my promises and commitments… especially to you guys, my fantastic English students.

So let’s get going shall we…..

Let me start by explaining what ACCOUNTABILITY actually means?

So how does this relate to learning excellent English speaking skills in super quick time?

It’s quite simple…. let me explain.

You need to find someone that will hold you accountable – maybe it’s someone similar to yourself who is trying to learn how to speak English. You need to be able to share with them your dreams and aspirations – why is it that you want to learn how to speak excellent English….

For example….“I want to be a fluent English speaker in 6 months because I want to land my dream job at the a multi-national company” OR “I must become an excellent English speaker so I can move to the USA in 12 months with my family”.

Do you get the point? You need to define your ‘end game’ in a certain timeframe.

Once you have shared your goal with your new Accountability Partner, you are ready to begin the process.

Once every week, you will set up a 30 minute discussion (telephone or in person) and ask each other the following questions:

It’s nothing more than that! And trust me, this process works. Don’t ask me why, it just does.

Remember learning how to speak excellent English is much more than having excellent learning methods and excellent lessons. It’s also making sure that YOU are doing what you committed to do. Making yourself accountable to someone else who has similar goals is a fantastic way of realizing your English dreams!

Your next task is to go and find your Accountability Partner. Think carefully about the person you select. It needs to be someone that you can trust, be open with and ultimately, be accountable to!

Now, more than any other post, I want you to really follow through on everything I’ve told you. This may just be your single biggest missing element to your English speaking success. I want to build a community of avid English students and there’s no better way than providing you with the latest training tips, advice and motivation. So I am committing to you that I will be writing one post every day Monday to Friday – starting today.

Two English Speaking training Videos Every Month

When we started these last year, they became incredibly popular – so due to popular demand, I have agreed with Jack to record two new videos every single month. These videos will focus on helping you speak excellent English in the shortest possible time. I am discussing with Jack the training that we will be covering in these videos – but I can assure you that we will be covering things such as:

• How to increase your vocabulary without learning word lists.
• How to learn grammar naturally without having to learn grammar rules.
• The best way to understand and participate in English conversations.

Inspired English Program Membership Website Redesign

I’ve never been happy with the software platform I’ve been using for the Inspired English Program, so I’ve asked my IT team to change it to something better….. and the new membership site is going to be really cool – with much easier navigation, the ability to download the video trainings (as well as the audio and PDFs).

Tom (my top IT guy) said he would get this finished in about a week. So for you Inspired English Program members out there, you’re in for a real treat. And if you’re not a member, you’ve got something incredible to look forward to once you’ve purchased the program.

I will write a post about the new membership site once it’s closer to completion. 

Revamped Facebook Page

Facebook has just exploded over the past 12 months. There’s so much activity going on over there. I’ve decided to spend a lot more time interacting with my Facebook fans – it’s a great way to build an English speaking community for all of us.

Have you seen the new timelines that Facebook have recently introduced? Aren’t they just fab? Well guess what? We’re going to be getting one of those as well. I’ll let you know when it’s ready….

This is going to be a brief and simple post today – just to get you thinking. Do you have a plan of how you are going to reach your spoken English goals or are you just “aimlessly” reading different textbooks, continuing to invest in English courses that don’t have an impact or spending hour after hour browsing the web looking for “useful” spoken English content.

Remember that without a plan, you are planning to fail.

Anyway here are 5 simple steps that the Inspired English system follows to help you with your development. Stick to these rules and you will be a step ahead than most other spoken English students:

1. Learn English phrases for relevant situations – listen and practice.
2. Use the Quickfire technique (listening to short conversations and then answering questions) to help you think in English.
3. Practice listening and speaking English every day.
4. Watch repeatedly small sections of English movies, listen to English radio and other poscasts.
5. Study the DNA of English using word association with symbols and pictures.

Okay, let’s be honest here. What’s the one thing about the English language that really stops you progressing to where we want to get to?

Easy question – GRAMMAR of course.

Just the mention of the word “grammar” can cause many students pain. There is a widely held belief that before you can start to speak a language fluently, you must spend days, weeks and months learning the fundamentals of English grammar.

This by itself can create limiting beliefs –

“I can’t learn English until I learn the grammar”
“I will never speak English because the grammar is just so difficult”
“It is going to take me forever before I can speak English confidently”

This reason by itself can stop many aspiring English students in their tracks. The initial desire and motivation to learn Englishis lost. After a few false starts, the student gives up. Okay, I was there! I was in the very same position. You wouldn’t believe the number of English grammar books and courses I have been on, trying and overcome this limiting belief.

And then one day it dawned on me. At the time it was a revelation. It created a huge shift in my thinking. To explain, let me ask you this simple question?

“Do you ever see a small child reading a grammar book?”

The answer is clearly no! So how do we learn a language as a child? It’s through listening, learning phrases, understanding, speaking and continual practice. Sounds simple right? Well clearly the execution is not quite as easy as it sounds, but the principle certainly is.

So how do I apply this to my spoken English development? There are various learning techniques that are available that avoid you going through the torture of learning the fundamentals of grammar. I really believe this. More on this in later posts.

There is nothing more frustrating than seeing potentially great English speakers giving up because of grammar. Continue to follow these updates and I will share with you some of the readily available techniques to speak English with confidence and have fun along the way.

It has been quite a journey for A.J. over the past few weeks with his web-site crashing on numerous occasions due to the huge volume of traffic. In typical A.J. style, however, he remained remarkably positive throughout to overcome the issues he was facing. Apparently he has close to 1,000,000 subscribers on his list and only 15,000 copies of Power English available.

I have not personally reviewed Power English, neither do I have a copy (but am keen to get my hands on it), but am 100% sure that this product will combine the elements of Effortless English, motivation and A.J’s infectious teaching style to deliver an outstanding product.
